Re: Axolotl Eggs
I had 5 losses today. One of which was the first one to hatch. More hatched out today as well and still have about 4-5 that are still waiting to come out of their eggs.

Re: Axolotl Eggs
when I read about hatching pacs and separating each little guy....well, I'm going to wait and see how crazy your guys drive you ! LOL
GOOD LUCK ! It certainly is fun to watch some one else do all the work !
Here is something I read about the Eye Lash frog while I'm waiting to hear if I get them from the zoo.... They lay eggs like at the base of a tree and the embryo does the whole metamorphosis inside the egg ( apparently you can see the tadpole inside the egg if you candle it ). They don't utilize water for the eggs. When the egg hatches out pops a baby Eyelash.

Re: Axolotl Eggs
It certainly is becoming a lot of work. I'm up to 48 babies even with the losses. Daily water changes & rinsing the BBS before every feeding is quite tedious. Some babies look stronger then others. Time will only tell who will survive until the juvenile stage (when they have both front & back legs).
That's very interesting about the Eye Lash Frog.

Re: Axolotl Eggs
Yay for axolotl larvae! Your setup looks great
Melanoid axies would be great! We don't really get them out here. Their colours will start to develop more at around the month and a half mark. Some of ours that hatch out looking like wildtypes turn out to be leucistic

Re: Axolotl Eggs
OoOo...That'd be awesome if I wind up with any leucistics! I'm happy with they wild types, though and if I get any melanoids that would be awesome too.
I took a major loss today. I took too long to get to doing a water change today and lost A LOT of axys today. =\ Which, I don't mind, but it's kind of sad. I'm down to 27 now. It is really overwhelming having so many, so I hope I don't loose too many more.

Re: Axolotl Eggs
So TK, how many eggs did you end up getting? In the first post you said you were getting 30+, and you've now got 48, with a few loses.

Re: Axolotl Eggs
Thanks Grete. That's where I got my eggs from. I posted an ad looking for some eggs and got a response quickly.
I'm not sure exactly how many eggs I wound up with. It was suppose to be 30, but it was way more then that. I had more then 50 hatch. Everyone has hatched out now and I've had many more losses. I'm down to 25 and since then I have had no losses for the past week. There hasn't been much change in them. I'll post pictures once they starting getting their legs.
