Violin Mantises - Gongylus gongylodes.
Got a new species recently. Loving them, only problem I'm finding is balancing HIGH temps (95*F) with mid-level humidity (50%). Lost one already due to a bad shed, hoping to not repeat that process ever, it was one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen.
Nonetheless, got pics and a vid, enjoy!

Thank you. They have been a pleasure to keep, I'm hoping to get a breeding colony going so I can continue to enjoy them for years to come.
I love their personalities, too, easily one of the most naturally tame creatures out there. Love 'em!

I've always had a fondness for Mantids. I wish they lived longer or I would keep the more exotic looking species.

No way! They look like twigs and dried leaves! I've probably seen dozens of them but just thought they were twigs and leaves. Great camouflage. I've never known anyone who keeps them. What are their habits?

Beautiful the shorter lifespans are a drawback but I have never been dissapointed keeping mantids! Their personalities and beauty make it well worth it. If you get a breeding colony started that's even better and the babies are so cute!
