Quarantine *rasberry*
It breaks my heart. It really does.
On the upside... Those tubs are ridiculously cool. $50 ea. Reptiletubs.com.
- VE175 tubs.
- Zilla thermo-hygrometers w. dual probes (gag)
- 2.5" Jungle Bed
- Flexwatt under-cage heat on a Herpstat Pro
Eh.
Oh, and my BRB Telaisien and Guyanese BCC Nero are on a plane headed to Ohio right now.
Delivery at 9am tomorrow morning.
Good stuff.

They're about the same size as a 75g aquarium.
The biggest you can buy, according to their seller. Makes little difference to me.
It was an adventure - driving over an hour to his imaginary shop to pick up these tubs. 3 1/2 hours late for work didn't seem quite as worth it there in the end.
Not to mention the dude looked like Grizzley Adams.
I should have just had them shipped. A whole 50 miles. Would've saved me the aggravation.

Re: Quarantine *rasberry*
I like that setup =D
I've got 116qt "under the bed" tubs for 17 bucks each at this place called The Container Store. At Bed Bath & beyond they have CB110s which are fairley large too these for 23 each. At this place that sells christmas trees you can get these GIANT tubs you could keep adult retics in. They're Colossal lol.

Re: Quarantine *rasberry*
I needed something that was reinforced, large, clear, and would last a while. Those two tubs will probably keep those two comfortable for well over a year. If they grow at Sasori's rate: 2.
They'll do until spring of '11 when I decide to order their T25s.

Re: Quarantine *rasberry*
I had it with those Zilla things after an hour. Complete garbage and I pity anyone that has them. For those of you that do and find them acceptable: I envy you.
I took the Kings' two-way thermometers and used them instead. 10 degree difference.
I'm getting a couple two-location thermo-hygrometers from Big Apple, same as my other two-locaters. For $4.00 extra, they're far more than simply worth it.
Well. They got here this morning.
They somehow managed to be sent to the wrong address, and only by the grace of Heaven smiling on me today did my UPS driver recognize my name and remember the snakes were being delivered. He found them at a UPS store about 10 minutes from the correct address - which is weird, considering I Google'd / copied / pasted the address and have a dozen times, getting at least three things delivered here per week.
I can't say enough about these two. Nero is the dead-sexiest baby I own, hands-down. His True-blood tail is to die for, and I cannot wait to get home and see him. He was calm as a button, looking around, no snaps, no hisses or jukes. He was roaming every inch of his ginormous tub when I left. I'm worried it's too big for him - fitting in the palm of my hand as he does - but the heating takes up 1/3 of that cage and he found it right away. After warming up for 10 minutes and becoming less dark, he was swinging from the ceiling.
Telaisien was equally calm, not particularly interested in taking my hand off. He went straight in to his water-dish, swam around it for a moment then went straight underground.
Both are perfectly proportioned, apparently mite-free, bright clear eyes, clean mouths, no kinks or caked vents. Positively beautiful babies.
I'll take pictures of Nero when I go home tonight and Telaisien if he's reappeared.

My Big Apples are fantastic. Every one syncs up with every other. I need to buy a few more. They've two location thermometer/hygrometers for $24 a piece - totally worth it - but the only downside is if you want to know the temperature of the opposing end, you must hit the button - most times on the inside of the enclosure.
Well, in other news, we took the boys out while I was applying their ventilation holes. Nero - in true Boa fashion immediately found his niche wrapped around my girlfriend's hair bun, completely fell asleep there too.
Telaisien was all over the place. He's calm and confident, but incredibly interested. I offered him a pinky rat - at which he paused, struck, missed, and lost interest.
I worked on their tubs a bit, tidying and sprucing them up a bit. I'll post pictures this weekend of their closer-to-finished products.
No pictures of the boys, though, no, none for YOU! My phones dead, my camera doesn't have a memory card, and Sarah's is crap.
Suffice it to say that Telaisien is stunning, Nero is hands down the most beautiful snake I've ever seen in person and I couldn't be happier.
Oh, and PS. Nero took his dinner hanging upside down from the ceiling of his tub like a good boy should.

I use an under-tank heat source by putting an under-tank heat source beneath the tub.
Tubs can be heated from the bottom easily enough if you have a regulated heat-source such as one controlled by a proportional thermostat such as mine.
My heat source is a 12x11" piece of Flexwatt under each controlled by a Herpstat as demonstrated. Their ventilation is provided by saudered holes along the sides.
